The high price of $90 is purely just for the looks. If you want looks, go for it, which is why I bought it.If you want better functions, spend 20 more bucks for quality name brands like Tiger or Zojirushi.If you want cheap, you can easily find rice cookers for $40 or less that does the same but just not as aesthetically pleasing, like the Aroma or Dash mini rice cooker for around $20.I don't always eat rice right after it's done cooking and sometimes have leftover rice. While rice comes out normal, the keep warm function is way too hot and makes the bottom of the rice hard and crunchy after sitting for a couple hours and completely dries up the bottom after a day.My old Zojirushi doesn't dry up the bottom of the rice like this one do even after sitting for a whole night.This is ok for daily use for 1-2 person households, but don't recommend relying on the keep warm function.UPDATE: it is now March 2022, I bought this rice cooker in Oct. 2020.This is an Asian household, so rice was eaten 360 of the 365 days a year. After one and a half year, the rice cooker is still going strong. So the quality is there.However, as I said in the original review, the keep warm function is too hot and dries up the rice. But I have adapted to it now.If you still plan on getting this, here are some tips:If planning on eating out or eating something besides rice for the next meal, make a small batch of rice. For reference, 1 cup uncooked rice = 3 cups cooked rice. For me, 0.5cup uncooked rice was just enough for 1 meal to be full.And you plan on eating rice for the next couple meals and/or the next day, make a large batch like 2-3cups uncooked rice. Cancel/turn off the "keep warm" function after the rice finish cooking and let it cool to room temperature with the lid closed. Then toss it in the fridge and reheat as needed.There're also many times I let it sit overnight in the rice cooker with the lid closed and without the "keep warm" on, and it didn't spoil. But I live in a relatively cool area, so it could very much depend on your environment if you want to risk the rice getting spoiled after being left out overnight.That being said, I still love this rice cooker, got lots of compliments from friends when they visited. But I'd be lying if I say this is worth all 5 stars.I bought this because my father has pre Diabetic and he love the rice very much …. Since it is low carb rice cooker I thought may will help lower the blood sugar than regular rice cooker… but didn’t help!!! We test his blood sugar before the rice was 128mg/dl and after the rice( about 100 gram cooked rice) his blood sugar went up to 178 mg/dl which it is same as regular rice cooker… so beware if you are buying to help your sugar lever…. Just test is before and after the results to see if it help yours!!! So I will return this rice cooker!My rice cooker broken down so, I was searching for the new. My mom has been diagnosed with diabetes and she loves white rice. My mom loves this rice cooker. First of all, it works. She lost 4 lbs in three weeks without any workout activities. I haven't checked her blood sugar, but mom feels awesome. I couldn't tell the difference between regular and lowsugar white rice. We also tasted mixed rice. We just surprised to see lots of sugar contents coming out of 1 or 11/2 cups. The only thing that we didn't like is that you cannot warm 24hrs so it'll get harder like as a rock. I recommend to store in the freezer if you have leftover.Just shy of 15 months of use; it lost temperature regulation and melted itself. Prior to this it made good rice.I have had this rice cooker for two months! I had a lot of issues the first few weeks as the rice would always get extremely hard/dry after cooking a perfect batch and I had no idea why.I realized that the “keep warm” function on this rice cooker is way too hot. It either needs better insulation or a lower holding heat. I have to unplug it after a few hours to prevent it from drying out the rice. This rice cooker is extremely aesthetic but not the best rice cooker as I have to cook a new batch every day or just the right amount for one dish. I do love how pretty it is but I miss being able to have warm rice available all day with my family’s rice cooker which I cannot get with this one. It’s does do the job and is pretty but it will not keep your rice perfect for 24 hours. I received this as a housewarming gift so I will continue using it but I would not purchase this with my own money.Pros: cooks as designed to do, minimal aesthetic design, easy to clean, good timer function, easy to useCons: “keep warm” function too hot, dries out rice if plugged in too long, have to cook new batch every timeFor small batches this is a great rice cooker. I also have a 10 cup but it is just too much. This I use for 1-2 cups. It cleans easily . I was concerned it does not have a vapor water catcher like larger ones but it works and just vents out the top,My teen son loves it. Uses it almost daily so it must be simple to use. I needed something to save me from his attempts at making rice in a pot. Something I take for granted. It's is a small portion so beware of you're thinking it will feed more than 2. It's not 2 if they're healthy eaters. I haven't tried anything other than rice but it says it will do soups and mixed rice. Only use the cup provided for measuring. My son made the mistake of using a measuring cup and it overflowed. All in all we like it. Keeps our portions down, less waste or leftovers.I give it a 7 star out of 5!!!!!!I'm surprised at how big this small capacity cooker is. It takes up a lot of space but doesn't cook much. So for those with small kitchen space, think twice. I really want to like this but it keeps undercooking my rice and it takes way longer than the designated 45 mins. It also keeps beeping while it's cooking so I can't use it when the baby is sleeping (!). It's supposed to beep once at start, then 5 times upon completion but it just keeps randomly beeping! Anyway to go through that and still end up with improperly cooked plain white rice is very underwhelming. Will try again before I consider returning.This really good size for 1 -2 people, easy to storage, low sugar mode, I think really works, design idea really good but one IMPORTANT THING the rice are too dry on low sugar mode. If you use regular mode, you kind of pay too much for this size of rice cooker. I decided returned as kind of useless. If you don't mind eat dry rice, you can try the low sugar on this.I really wanted to be positive and ignore the bad reviews but unfortunately this is a return. The product looked used or refurbished when I got it, had black finger markings all over and the rice paddle. The cord was sensitive and the cooker would stop. Worst part is the pool of water that collects at the top…it’s no wonder the unit stops working after so long. The water is seeping into the buttons. Maybe for 1 person using this they wouldn’t mind but not functional for anyone over two people.I started by making steel-cut oatmeal with the porridge function. The program runs for 1 hour but it comes out beautifully. A little 'skin' where it touches the pot, but really nice texture. Perfect for 1-2 portions. I love that I can take it with me on a road trip or even the office. It is easy to use.It has different settings for rice, mixed rice and oatmeal. I am not using the 'low sugar rice' as I don't get the point of that, but I may try it later. What I appreciate is when you open the lid, it flips up (would be better if it were detachable) and there are rims that catch the water so it doesn't run down the sides. Water is caught completely and can be taken off with a cloth easily.I don't know how long it will last. But I hope it will work for a long time.We've have rice a few times a week and with our old rice cooker my partner's success rate with it was 50% at best. Usually it'd end up going off well before the rice was cooked. So that meant that I had to cook the rice more often than not. Even though she taught me how go wash the rice and turn on the rice cooker my success percentage with the old rice cooked was 100%.With this new rice cooker now both of us have a 100% success rate. It also has clearer lines for how many cups of rice you want to cook than our old rice cooker. We usually only cook enough for both of us for one meal so it's very nice that this rice cooker can do smaller quantities. Cleaning it up is pretty easy since you can remove the inner pot to clean it just like in our last rice cooker.
